The primary posterior teeth usually shed between age 10-12 years and it is imperative to save the milk teeth till the permanent teeth come in..
Pulpectomy should be started with lower 2nd primary molars and caries excavation and review with lower 1st molars..

All decayed lower teeth has to be filled or pulpectomy done at the earliest. You can consult through this for prescription of medication to relieve pain.
As you mentioned here your child is 5 years old and there is a long time (3-4 years approx) for the permanent teeth to erupt and replace the decayed primary posterior teeth(molars) … so it’s very important to save the decayed molars, before they get worse and need to be extracted.
