Why would a person's d dimer stay a bit raised a few months after a pulmonary embolism? I had a PE 12 weeks ago, at the time my d dimer was 380 and since then it's wobbled between 300 and 370, yesterday it was 340. A VQ scan yesterday showed no change in my clot since it was detected (still a smallish segmental clot in my upper right lung). Thanks

Hi. I understand your concern s. D dimer value is dependent on many things including drugs and kidney function. So VQ scan is showing resolution then you can just wait and watch and anyways I am sure you are on blood thinning medications. Talk to your treating doctor for the same
