If I consume a blood thinner at night, and go for a blood d dimer test next day, will it come lower?
Father had d dimer 1800 (the report was fishy as it came 5 days later, and sample was transported to another city). So my father, after consultation, consumed dabigatran 150. And next day went for a blood test again, it came out to be 200. He still continued blood thinner for 1 week and tested again, it was 210
My question is, is this low number due to dabigatran, or the first report can be discarded

Hi. I understand your concern s. Unfortunately blood reports are not treated but patient is treated. Depends on symptoms and severity of symptoms and to suggest you further management plan and treatment prescription
If the d dimer,or any other test done as home collection and not done with in a stipulated time, the values come wrongly.
Hence, it is better to go to lab, and have the tests done.
