CRP is raised in any acute illness.  Whether this illness is viral or bacterial can be told only after examining the child and looking into other blood investigations.  I think you should trust ur treating Doctor and discuss with them your queries.  As Doctors who are treating your kid are best person right now comment on his condition.
Next Steps
Please discuss these issues with ur treating Doctor.

My dear friend when you are already in the hospital leave your burdens on shoulders of doctors who are treating him . You should discuss your concerns openly with them . Do not confuse issues by seeking opinions from us who have not seen the patient. We know the reason of raised CRP but I would not like to encourage your this behavior . I wish all the best for your child . When he is discharged and any other time if you need help in remote consultation always welcome please .
