Night-time cramp-like pain along the back of the right leg, described as shooting pain and affecting walking, is not a simple muscle cramp in most cases. This pattern commonly suggests nerve irritation, such as sciatic nerve involvement, which can arise from a lumbar disc issue, muscle spasm in the lower back/hip, or prolonged sitting/posture strain pain worsening at night and shooting down the leg is less typical of exercise-related cramps, especially if you have not stretched or overused the muscles you should avoid self-treatment for now and get a clinical evaluation of the lower back and leg, as timely diagnosis helps prevent worsening
