Crack in shoulder bone
My fried broke his shoulder falling from bike. Xray attached. We have consulted 2 to 3 orthopedic. One doctor is very confident that he does not need surgery. It can cure just by putting some braces over shoulder. But one is asking for surgery. Doctors please suggest what is right.

Usually if the fracture is undisplaced, the patient doesn't require a surgery. In his case, the fracture is displaced. If the fracture is not in place even after the brace, then he will definitely require surgery. It is easy to treat a fresh fracture than an old fracture which has not United ( Non-union). I would advise another x-ray with the brace on, to see if the fracture ends are meeting. If they are not meeting, I strongly suggest surgery
Next Steps
Get an x-ray with the shoulder brace applied.
Health Tips
always wear the brace. never remove it.

There are advantages and disadvantages of both surgical and non surgical treatments.. Surgical treatment involves application of plate which holds fracture in place and enhances bone healing.. Non surgical technique involves use of external strapping support which can hold the fracture in its place to some extent.. Considering his young age, fracture displacement, it would be better to choose surgical method of correction. If he was old aged person, with less mobility and requirement of shoulder movements,  conservative management would be better..
Next Steps
You can talk amongst family members and take a decision after discussing with your doctor..
