Covid test is positive if there is virus in the nasal swab or swab from the mouth cavity. So he will remain positive (by RTPCR)  for many days. He may infect others even though he may not suffer from the disease. His suffering from the disease depends on his level of immunity. So precautions regarding isolation for 10 days have to be followed.
