Costochondritis
Started having chest pains 8 months ago at right side also travelling at arm throught armpit and also having rib pain..got a full heart checkup was normal and took prescribed antacid for acidity but no relief..at last was diagnosed with costocondritis...pain has reduced but still is very annoying and not able to concentrate on my job..vit d level was 17 and taking vit d3 and calcium since last Three months.and also prescrided anti inflammatory ..not having full relief...what to do now?? Pain is felt more when I twist my body to right side...sometimes pain is not there and I feel normal...hot packs and light stretching gives me relief from pain but temporary only...what can I do more to get Rid of this problem.

Costochondritis is inflammation of a very small joint. It is very difficult to treat it with tablets only as the tablets go everywhere in the body and hence reach the target area in insufficient quantities. A small injection of a depot steroid at the painful under x ray guidance would cure this without any side effects

This treatment is being suggested on bases of the information provided. However I would like to examine & investigate the patient  in detail. Control  Hypertension, Diabetes or any other metabolic disorder, if there is  any. Any way it may be tried, --. Dolokind Plus (Mankind) [Aceclofenac100 mg +Paracetamol 350 mg] 1 tab. OD & SOS. X 5 days. --. Caldikind plus  (Mankind) 1 tab OD x 10 days. (You may need help of your local doctor to get these medicines.) --. Fomentation with warm water. Let the part not be exposed to cold air. --. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding. --. Use no pillow under the head. --. Avoid painful acts & activities. -- .Do deep breathing exercises. --.(Take help of a  physiotherapist). --Do not ignore, let it not become beginning of a major problem. --Do ask for a detailed treatment plan. Do u have any other joint pain Is there. Any mrng stiffness.
