The commonest cause of constipation is lack of fiber in the diet. Give just 2 milk feeds using a glass and 3-4 solid meals a day. Make sure to add high fiber items such as cornflakes,Dalia, salad and green leafy vegetables like spinach(which will help in iron deficiency too!!) and fruits like mango, pears, cheeku, apple and oranges in the diet DAILY. Do NOT use stool softeners or suppository regularly. If not improving in 1 week even after following above mentioned instructions strictly, get a X-ray of abdomen and get back.
