Laxative dependency is not good for a longer duration. Plz increase the intake of fibre in your diet. Make sure to take 2-3 litres of water everyday. You can use isabagol or triphla as a laxative on regular basis as it is not habit forming
You can continue to take it, bur slowly try to wean it off by skipping it for a day or 2 intermittently. Because bowels get habituated to any laxative if taken continuously for long time, then they do not move on their own, I.e. without laxative.
Take evening meals early, avoid heavy meals in evening. Ensure to include something hot and which stimulates bowels, like vegetable soup, moon dal, hot milk without cream or hot water before sleeping.
Take green vegetables, fruits like pappaya, regularly.
For longer duration this medication may lead gastric upset, cramps, diarrhea
Avoid straining
Take syrup looz _5ml bd
Lacitigol _1/2 spoon in100ml of warm water.
Long term use can leads to
Diarrhea
frequent loose stools
Abdominal cramping,
gas, flatulence or nausea.
Electrolyte imbalance (low potassium, sodium changes) from ongoing diarrhea
Safe Long‑Term Strategies
Increase Dietary Fiber
Fiber helps bulk the stool and supports regular bowel movements
20–35 g of fiber per day
2. Stay Well Hydrated
Drinking adequate water — about 8–10 glasses per day.
3. Regular Physical Activity
Walking, stretching, or light exercise can stimulate bowel movements
4. Healthy Bowel Habits
5. Natural Softeners
Psyllium husk (ispaghula) with water
Prunes or prune juice
Flaxseeds
These increase bulk and water content in stools.
