-Sore throat + heaviness in breathing with normal temperature → early viral upper respiratory infection (common cold/pharyngitis) -No true fever (98.2°F normal) → mild illness -Heaviness is often due to throat irritation/congestion, not lung disease
Next Steps
-No antibiotics needed (viral illness as per Harrison) -Tab Paracetamol 500 mg SOS (if body ache or feverish feeling) -Tab Levocetirizine 5 mg once daily at night for 3–5 days -Steam inhalation 2–3 times daily -Warm saline gargles 3–4 times daily -If throat pain significant → Tab Amoxicillin-Clavulanate 625 mg twice daily for 5 days ONLY if symptoms worsen/pus/fever develops
Health Tips
-Rest and adequate fluids -Avoid cold drinks and irritants -Most viral URTI resolves in 3–5 days (as per Harrison) -Seek care if high fever, real breathing difficulty, or symptoms >5–7 days Contact me anytime on practo for further consultation

Hello. It sounds like the exposure to rain has triggered a common cold with some throat inflammation and mild chest congestion. The 'heaviness' you feel is likely due to mucus buildup in your airways rather than a serious lung issue, especially since you don't have a fever. 1. Immediate Relief for Sore Throat: Warm Saltwater Gargles: Mix 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Gargle every 4–6 hours. This reduces swelling and clears mucus. Lozenges: You can use Strepsils or Alex Lozenges (containing 2,4-Dichlorobenzyl alcohol) for temporary numbing and relief. 2. Managing the 'Heaviness' in Breathing: Steam Inhalation: This is the most effective way to loosen the 'heaviness.' Inhale steam from a bowl of hot water (you can add a drop of Karvol Plus or Vicks) for 5–10 minutes twice daily. Chest Rub: Applying Vicks Vaporub on the chest and throat before sleeping can help open up the airways. 3. Recommended Medications (Standard Indian Brands): For Throat Pain: Tab. Zerodol-P (Aceclofenac + Paracetamol) or Tab. Dolo 650 twice daily after food if the pain is bothersome. For Congestion: Tab. Solvin Cold or Tab. Sinarest twice daily. These contain a decongestant (Phenylephrine) which will help clear the 'heavy' feeling. For Cough/Mucus: Syr. Ascoril LS or Syr. Grilinctus-BM (5ml three times a day) if you start developing a productive cough. Lifestyle Advice: Hydration: Drink plenty of lukewarm water or herbal tea (Ginger-Tulsi tea is very effective). Rest: Avoid further exposure to cold air or fans. Use an extra pillow to keep your head elevated while sleeping to make breathing easier. When to seek urgent care: If you develop a high fever (above 101°F), start wheezing (whistling sound when breathing), or if the heaviness turns into a struggle to catch your breath, please visit a clinic immediately for a physical chest examination (Auscultation).

Seems like a viral infection having all these symptoms, if Temp rises above 100 , take Paracetamol 500mg twice a day . Drink plenty of warm water, gargle with salt warm water 3 times a day will help to ease the sore throat. Once you feel it's more than a week , you can take Tab Azithromycin 500 OD in the morning after food for 3 days . Try this you might feel good .

A sore throat with difficulty breathing and feverish feeling even with normal temperature sounds like a viral infection like a common cold or flu causing inflammation in the upper airway, other possibility is strep throat or it could be tonsillitis. To ease the immediate discomfort, gargle with warm salt water every few hours to reduce tissue swelling and clear mucus. Use a humidifier or take a steamy shower to moisten the airway, which can make breathing feel lighter. sip on warm honey water it will calm irritation while you rest.
Next Steps
Take consultation with a GP to get some investigations like a throat swab and blood tests to rule out a bacterial infection that might need antibiotics Keep a log of your temperature every 4 hours
Health Tips
Your priority is monitoring your breathing, if the heaviness turns into gasping wheezing or an inability to swallow saliva, go to an Emergency Room immediately.
