Cold and Lung Congestion in 3 month old
My 3 month old baby has cold and nose block from past 2 days. She is having breathing problems due to nose block specifically during the night. Also, she is having dry cough from last 1 week. Dr has advised Otrivin nasal drops and Cetrizine and Mucolite drops. Please advise if I should give her these medicines as I have read these medicines should not be given to such young baby. Please help.

Hello dear parent, I understand your concern If the baby is active and feeding well then you can use plain saline nasal drops one drop in each nostril every 2 hours 30 minutes before every feed For cough mucolite drops are safe to be given to your baby. You can give 0.5 ml twice a day Do not stop breast feeding.
Next Steps
But while you give these medicines look out for signs of worsening
Health Tips
Please revisit your pediatrician if 1. The child appears very lethargic 2. she is not feeding as well as before 3. she is passing lesser urine than usual 4. if she has any fast breathing or noisy breathing 5. if she is unusually irritable 6. if she appears blue
