Please take 6 sessions of manual therapy. since problem is persistent I recommend, go for MRI as well . It is better to understand the problem in detail with persistent issues.

Hi I have understood that you have neck pain for the past 6 months confirmed it with an xray investigation found having changes in C5 C6 and C7 region.
Not to be worried thinking it as a serious issue, also you have stated that the neck moves from left to right automatically only while sleeping. It could be either because of muscle spasm or improper support to the neck while sleeping.
Next Steps
For the muscle spasm in the neck kindly apply hot water fermentation to the stiff muscles around the neck applying it atleast for 10 to 15 min repeat this twice or thrice in a day.
your pain and spasm usually settles in 1 to 2 days of time if no change in pain level it indicates that it donot respond to this basic treatment. in that case I advise u to visit the nearest physical therapist or an orthopedician for further evaluation.
Health Tips
If you have the habit of sleeping one side kindly keep sufficient thickness of pillow to ensure that the neck is in neutral position not going too much up or not going too much down. for easy understanding the thickness of the pillow should be measured between the sleeping side ear and sleeping side shoulder. approx 2 regular pillows if u sleep sidewards. if sleeping straight kindly use thin pillow or make a towel roll and keep it under your neck.
Nothing to worry...you should consult a good physical therapist who will look into your body and try to find out the root cause of your problem and aligned your muscles bones and joints to treat it completely.
