Before I was diagnosed with mild pid in cervical pain , at that time pain was very severe , doctor advised me to not lift heavy weight, I want to ask can I join gym to reduce weight or not

Yoga based exercises are better than gym. exercises. You may visit my YouTube channel Dr N C Gupta  me and my yoga to get some idea of yoga based exercises.

That depends on how your pain is currently. If you are feeling completely fine  you can gradually start doing some exercises. If you feel that the pain is again coming by doing any of the exercises,  then better to avoid them for few more days..
Next Steps
You may take some medicines like analgesic,  muscle relaxant for pain relief, start hot fomentation,  apply analgesic ointment locally..

Avoid heavy work,  avoid jerky movements of neck..
