Can we give water to 5 month old baby
My son is 5 month old. During summer some days he passes urine less compared to other days. It seems dehydrated to me. We provide milk at regular intervals of around 2 hrs. Can we also provide water to baby to hydrate his body ??

Till six months of age only mother milk has to be given. It is sufficient to quench thirst and hunger of the baby.

Milk contains water so at this no need to give extra water, otherwise her milk appetite will decrease. If your child is passing adequate amount of urine then nothing to be done

It's best to avoid water until weaning is started at 6 months age. However, you can also start weaning at 5 months of age and give small amounts of water.
