Hi all, I have dry eyes issue which is not letting me sit in front of screen for long hours. This is impacting my work efficiency and causing a lot of suffering. I had got the meibography done, it indicated that my meibomain gland loss >50% which is causing this problem. The Dr. has recommended me maintenance IRPL therapy and medication treatment throughout my life. Even after following this treatment regimen my condition worsens when I work for long hours in front of screen. Therefore my concern is:
Can Neurotherapy(Lajpatrai Mehra NT) help in regenrating the gland or not?

No dear. But If you pay attention and follow what I say you will see huge improvement
1st get aur humidifier
2nd avoid aur conditioner as it makes air and eyes even more dry.
3rd if you can stay with ac just use aur humidifier with ac on
4rth always use distilled water with humidifier. You can order online or get distilled it from petroleum pump .
Neurotherapy or any therapy hasn't been proven to regenerate those glands. But its worth a try dear. Most important avoid dry air which further dries your eyes. Even use specs while driving so eyes don't dry up
You have to take care of little little things so things don't flare up later.
Dry eye due to more than 50% meibomian gland loss is a chronic issue. The recommended IRPL therapy and lifelong medications are standard treatments to manage symptoms, but unfortunately, once the glands are significantly damaged, full regeneration is difficult. Working long hours in front of screens worsens the condition despite treatment.
Next Steps
Continue with the prescribed therapy and medication to control inflammation and improve tear quality. Practice screen breaks, humidifiers, and warm compresses regularly. You may also explore lifestyle changes like adjusting screen settings and increasing blinking frequency.
Health Tips
Neurotherapy has not been proven to regenerate meibomian glands. While it might offer some relief in nerve-related symptoms, it should not replace your current treatment. Discuss any additional therapies with your eye specialist before trying them. Managing screen time and maintaining eye care is essential to prevent further worsening.

Hello Sir,
Meibomian gland loss unfortunately cannot be regenerated once damaged, so therapies like neurotherapy cannot restore them. The aim of treatment is to manage symptoms, prevent worsening, and improve comfort with options like IRPL, lubricating drops, lifestyle changes, and screen-time control. Regular eye care and follow-up are the best way forward for long-term relief.

Meibomian gland loss exceeding 50% represents advanced meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), where typical medical therapy (IPL, warm compresses, lid hygiene, medications) helps symptomatically but full gland regeneration is not expected with these alone.
Neurostimulation therapies (including intranasal, electrical, or external nerve stimulation) have shown benefits in increasing tear production and improving overall dry eye symptoms but offer limited evidence regarding direct regeneration of the lost meibomian gland structure.
Current Regenerative Therapies: Research into regenerative approaches such as exosome therapy, mesenchymal stem cell injections, and advanced radiofrequency devices shows promise in stimulating remaining gland function and potentially some regeneration, but these are still experimental and not established as standard care.
Next Steps
Continue prescribed maintenance IPL and medication treatment; these improve symptoms and may preserve remaining gland function, though they do not restore lost gland tissue.
Consider evaluation by a dry eye specialist for potential advanced therapies like thermal pulsation (LipiFlow), exosome therapy, or clinical trial participation, which may offer more benefit for severe gland loss based on emerging research.
Take regular screen breaks, use preservative-free lubricants, optimize room humidity, and wear protective eyewear to further reduce symptoms.
Health Tips
Be cautious about alternative therapies (including neurotherapy not backed by published research) for meibomian gland regeneration. Focus on proven medical treatments and seek multidisciplinary consult for persistent symptoms.
If symptoms worsen and interfere with work, document changes and discuss escalation of care options, including possible surgical or regenerative approaches with an expert.
In summary, there is no clinical evidence that Neurotherapy Lajpatrai Mehra NT regenerates meibomian glands, and you should continue with established management while keeping updated on new medical advancements
