Elemental calcium means actual amount of calcium which is available for body to uptake from tablet .The actual weight of the tablet is more as Tablet contains calcium salt. Any 2 tablets of calcium stating elemental calcium of 500 mg will produce the same effect . But Which calcium salt to be prescribed in which condition depends on lot of factors .It's better to consult an orthopedician .
