Dr. suggested to start partial weight bearing by 8-9 weeks after calcaneal operation (operated on 29th Jan). I'm trying to put weight with walker support since last 3-4 days. But beyond a specific weight it's paining at heel side (specially malleolus & retinaculum parts).
Also there is minor swelling around it but less as compare to the time of cast removal. Also gastrocnemius muscles (calf) are much looser than right leg muscles. Is it normal? How to proceed further?

Hi!
X ray seems to be good.
Calcaneal fractures need protected weight bearing for 3 months. If your cast is off, you might need a crepe bandage for another month, alongwith, NSAIDs and physiotherapy. You can reach out to an Orthopaedic surgeon on practo for complete assessment of your condition and details of your rehab program.
I m sorry to say but Screw used to fix fracture of calcaneus fracture pierced out at sole approx 1/2 mm and that might b the cause of pain but rite now u use crape bandage while weight bearing walking and for calf muscle pain u need to join Physiotherapy

Your surgery has been done in a very good way
You can weight bear properly only after 3 to 5 months
Do not get stressed for it
You can call me directly to my practo account to get in detail about pros and cons
Nothing to worry
Screw is good position only
You have adequate soft tissue beneath that
Pain and loose muscle because of couple of month immobilisation
Any bone will take 3 months for recovery do t worry
Do Physio and strengthening and tablets you will be fine
Bone is uniting well
Pain is part of recovery process
It will take upto 12 weeks for full healing of calcaneal. Fracture. It is normal to have swelling in legs and foot. Do calf muscle strengthening exercises. Consult your orthopaedic dr.
