Hello Doctor,
Since yesterday I have been experiencing a mild burning sensation in my urinary area. The burning occurs mainly during urination and while washing that area. There is no itching otherwise. The symptoms started yesterday and are still present today.

Burning during urination starting suddenly is most commonly an early Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). The fact that it also burns when washing the area suggests the urethra and surrounding skin are inflamed. Start by increasing your water intake immediately to 3â4 litres daily â this helps flush bacteria and often provides quick relief in early UTI. Get a Urine Routine & Microscopy test done today to confirm infection. If bacteria are found, a short course of antibiotics (like Nitrofurantoin 100mg twice daily for 5 days, or as prescribed by a doctor) will clear it quickly. Avoid spicy food, caffeine, and alcohol until symptoms resolve. Do not use perfumed soaps or products in that area as they can worsen irritation.
Next Steps
Do Urine Routine & Microscopy today. Drink 3â4 litres of water. Avoid caffeine and spicy food. If test confirms UTI, take antibiotics as prescribed. If symptoms worsen (fever, back pain, blood in urine), see a doctor urgently. Consult me on Practo for a prescription if needed.
