Chronic itching, burning, and dry rough skin on the vulva often points to a skin-type reaction like vulvar dermatitis rather than a simple infection, and sometimes to a longer-standing skin condition of that area. A close examination is needed to tell them apart.
Next Steps
Please see a gynaecologist for an in-person exam so the exact cause and safe treatment can be worked out.
Health Tips
Avoid scented soaps and washes, use only plain water on that area, and wear loose cotton innerwear.

Itching, burning, and dry rough skin in the vulvar area (without discharge) is most likely vulvar dermatitis, contact dermatitis, or lichen simplex chronicus â caused by irritants, friction, or skin sensitivity. Less commonly, lichen sclerosus (a chronic skin condition) can cause these symptoms, especially if the skin looks white or thin. Fungal infection is possible if there is also discharge.
Next Steps
Apply Hydrocortisone 1% cream to the affected area once daily for 5-7 days. Use only plain water or a fragrance-free intimate wash â avoid soaps and scented products. Wear loose cotton underwear. Do not scratch. If symptoms persist or skin appears white/thin/cracked, see a gynecologist or dermatologist for proper examination. Consult me on Practo for further guidance.
