Dear mother, at 2 weeks of age with latching difficulty, pumping and feeding expressed breast milk is a very good effort. For a 2-week-old newborn, it is recommended to sterilize breast pump parts after every use. Newborns, especially under 3 months, have immature immunity and are more prone to infection from bacteria that can grow on milk residues. As per CDC / standard guidelines: 1. Clean immediately after every use - rinse with cool water, then wash with soap and warm water, scrub well. 2. Sanitize/sterilize once per day if baby is healthy term baby - using boiling, steam sterilizer or microwave sterilizer bags. 3. For newborns less than 2-3 months, preterm, or sick babies - best is to sterilize after every use if possible. If sterilizing after every use is difficult practically, minimum you should wash thoroughly after every use and sterilize at least once daily. Also wash hands before pumping and before handling pump parts. Since baby is not latching well, please continue to try direct breastfeeding with proper position - cross cradle, skin-to-skin contact. You can take help of lactation counselor for latching techniques. Pumping helps maintain milk supply.
Next Steps
1. Wash pump parts after every use and sterilize at least once a day, ideally after every use for 2-week-old baby. 2. Store sterilized parts in clean covered container. 3. Continue breastfeeding attempts along with expressed milk feeding. 4. Take help from lactation support for improving latch.
Health Tips
Do not store used unwashed pump parts in fridge in between uses for newborns - wash immediately. Check pump manufacturer's instructions for sterilization method suitable for your pump parts. If baby develops fever, poor feeding, vomiting or loose stools, contact pediatrician immediately. Ensure mother takes adequate fluids and rest to maintain milk supply.

For a 2-week-old, wash all pump parts well with hot soapy water after every single use, since babies this young have less mature immunity and that washing matters most. Sterilizing once a day on top of that is enough for a healthy baby; you do not need to sterilize after every use.
Next Steps
Let the parts air dry fully before reassembling, wash your hands first, and keep the kit used only for your baby's milk.
Health Tips
If your baby was premature or has any health condition, ask your paediatrician whether more frequent sterilizing is advised.
