A single reading of elevated BP doesn't confirm hypertension.BP could fluctuate due to physical activity , anxiety ,few medical conditions. You have to monitor your BP twice daily for a few days with atleast 2 readings.Do follow healthy diet and lifestyle changes.

I understand your concern and you have started your meds too. Manual BP recording should be done regularly, single erroneous reading doesn't make you hypertensive. Consider cuff size, appropriate rest before recording, multiple readings has better results, at least on two different occasions. Slight fluctuations in Blood pressure is normal, rule out any stress factor, long standing pain, fever, etc. Regular bp monitoring required. We need to evaluate and discuss about the etiology and if required appropriate treatment. Consult for further discussion
