Betnesol injection
Im 27 weeks pregnant, I had my scan and echo today. The doctor has advised me to take a shot of betnesol 3amp. She said it is to avoid foetal distress during delivery. But as I browsed through the internet I found out it's only needed when the delivery is towards preterm. Doctor said that my baby is normal so is it necessary tat I get a shot of betnesol? How does this steroid affect the baby and me?

If your ultrasound showed any signs of growth restriction  or chances of preterm in future like short cervix  or if you have comorbidities like hypertension or gdm then  2 shots of betnesol 12 mg are given 24 hours apart to enhance pulmonary maturity of the baby .
