Betnesol injection during 33rd week
I am currently in 33 week pregenecy and my AFI is 23,so my doctor has advised to take betnesol 12 mg injection 2 doses .Is it safe to take at 33 weeks? It dosent cause any preterm labor?

It is to protect the baby from complications of preterm labour. It matures the baby s lungs so that in case preterm birth happens which is possible because of the higher AFI then the baby has less complications and more chances of survival.
Why would your doctor give you a medication to cause preterm birth?please trust your consultants.

Yes it is safe. It does not prevent preterm labor but it helps in maturation of lungs of baby if delivery is imminent before term
