Back pain in pregnancy
I am 19th week pregnant. I am facing back pain even before pregnancy. Now it's getting worse. I was on bed rest for 6 week due to pregnancy complications. Those are ok now but having back pain. I am not able to sit for more than 10-15 min. Not able to sleep also. I need to work for 8 -9 hrs. Should I continue work or take bed rest. Please suggest.

Hi The key to treat backache of pregnancy is to remain active. There is no need to take rest. You should take calcium, vitamin d and should do some gentle back exercises. You can apply local gel and heat therapy on back.

It's common for pregnant women to experience back pain, especially in the later stages of pregnancy. However, given that you have been experiencing back pain even before pregnancy, it's important to consult with your healthcare provider to determine the cause of the pain and the best course of treatment. If your healthcare provider determines that the back pain is related to the pregnancy, they may suggest some exercises or stretches that can help alleviate the pain. They may also recommend a pregnancy support belt to help support your lower back. In terms of your work, it's important to prioritize your health and the health of your baby. If the pain is severe and affecting your ability to work and sleep, it may be necessary to take some time off work or reduce your hours. It's best to discuss this with your employer and healthcare provider to come up with a plan that works for you and ensures the safety and well-being of both you and your baby.
