Azithromycin
I always suffer from fever and cold only two times almost every year since I was a child one is when the winter starts that is September or November and other is when winter ends that's jan end or Feb . And almost every time my physician used to prescribe me Azithromycin . In these two years of pandemic the first year hopefully I didn't catch a cold . But this year again I had it twice during the same season change. Now might be the virus is  covid and not common cold. But even in covid Azithromycin is being is used. Then why are doctors sceptical about giving Azithromycin nowadays without a covid test being done ?. Is there any chance of developing resistance?  will it not work if actually get covid supposing that I don't have it now (even though Ive always completed the course ). Is it harmful to take Azithromycin twice a year maxm when I'm having fever and cold because earlier every year doctors used to prescribe it to me without fail. Why is there a change in this protocol now ?

Seasonal flu is usually viral and doesn't warrant usually  usage of antibiotics. So regular consumption of antibiotics is not ideal and azithromycin is not the drug choice in covid either. So most of your episodes can be managed with supportive care without antibiotics. But better get tested now due to the emergence of the new wave. You will require frequent monitoring with covid.
Next Steps
get test for covid. you can take supportive care instead of antibiotics until your covid report is out.
