There are many different anxiety disorders, you have not specified which one you have. Many anxiety disorders can recur especially during periods of stress or if the medication is not continued for long enough as prescribed. If it recurs, then restarting medication & therapy is done. Psychosurgery & neurosurgery is usually used as a last resort in Resistant ( not responding to medication or therapy) Obsessive compulsive disorder. The procedure has its own complications, so is advised as a last resort.
