Flu vaccine immunity does not last long. So annual flu boosters are needed. Also the flu virus strains circulating in the world change every year. That's why the vaccine content changes every year. So the child is not protected from the flu if the annual doses are not taken.

Hi
Flu vaccine strain changes every year depending on the type of virus being prevalent..So every year the virus changes its form to cause the infection more and vaccine is prepared based on that..If you take the vaccine the severity of illness will be less and the need for hospitalization reduces..
Next Steps
If affordable it is better to take the vaccine annually to prevent the severity of infection or hospitalization risk..
