Regarding pulse rate

2025-10-07 11:39:13
If someone pulse rate goes 180 bpm whole day for like 20 hours and no problem from next day does that whole day 180 bpm pulse rate weaken the heart
67 Views
You need to keep a track of pulse and blood pressure for one week. Measure both at the same time twice a day for a week. If it remains on the higher side yoy definitely need to get certain tests done like ecg, thyroid profile, cbc. Please consult for further discussion

A pulse of 180 bpm for a whole day is very high for an adult. Even if the person feels fine the next day, such sustained tachycardia can strain the heart and may indicate an underlying issue (like arrhythmia, fever, dehydration, or thyroid problem). It’s advisable to get evaluated promptly rather than ignore it.
Next Steps
You should do ECG,CBC,esr, crp, tft, even 2d echo if required, follow up required

A sustained heart rate of 180 bpm for nearly 20 hours is not normal and can put significant strain on the heart muscle, even if you feel fine afterward. This could be due to conditions like supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), anxiety, dehydration, or an underlying cardiac rhythm disorder. While one episode may not permanently damage the heart, it can weaken it if it happens again or remains uncorrected. It’s very important to get an ECG, echocardiogram, and thyroid profile done to rule out serious causes. For proper evaluation and to prevent recurrence, you can reach me directly for a detailed consultation on WhatsApp at eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two.

180 bpm is not normal heart rate, even for one time. It should be probed to know why. Get Haemoglobin,  thyroid profile, ecg and cardiac 2d echo done and share results.

When the heart beats that fast for hours, it can’t fill properly between beats. That leads to poor blood flow to the body and the heart muscle itself, which can cause ischemia (oxygen shortage) and heart muscle fatigue. So maintaining 180 bpm for 20 hours can weaken or damage the heart and needs evaluation preferably an ECG and echo to determine the cause.

A single day of fast heartbeat (around 180 bpm) usually doesn’t weaken the heart if it settles and you feel fine now, but it’s best to get an ECG and echo once to rule out any hidden rhythm issue.

Get an ECG done
