Phobia and anxiety

I had an iron deficiency due to which I was tired often and was resting alone at home but iron usually takes its own time to recover. This gave me a phobia of living alone and gave me panic sometimes which leads to crying constantly. I cannot concentrate and feel extremely anxious. My body stops me from doing anything . I feel nausea and dizziness even there is nothing wrong with my body. How to overcome this?

Hello, Yes, It’s possible that iron deficiency and prolonged fatigue triggered anxiety, which is now persisting even though the physical symptoms are improving. Panic symptoms such as dizziness, crying, and nausea without a clear physical cause often point toward anxiety disorders like health anxiety or panic disorder. Feeling unsafe while alone and being unable to relax may worsen the condition further.
Next Steps
a. Consult a psychiatrist for evaluation of anxiety-related conditions. b. A short course of anxiolytics or antidepressants may be helpful. c. Begin cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) focused on panic and health anxiety. d. Practice grounding techniques and relaxation exercises daily (e.g., deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation). Reach out for an online or in-person consultation: 📞 NEURONAL FIX CLINIC, RAMPRASTHA , GHAZIABAD- 74XX52XX97XX67XX61
Health Tips
a. Avoid caffeine and irregular sleep routines, as they can worsen anxiety. b. Recovery takes time- be patient and consistent with treatment. c. Physical symptoms caused by anxiety are real and valid, but manageable with the right support.

As per my view, you can plan a consultation with a psychiatrist. Detailed evaluation of the symptoms as anxiety, crying spells in terms of frequency, duration associated symptoms as tremors, dryness of mouth, sweating etc need to be further explored. On going stressors as personal or academic. For baseline iron level, you can have CBC done. Further you can have some dietary changes as " Dates, nuts, jaggery chana combo, sprouts, beet in salad, enhance haemoglobin " Deep breathing relaxation exercises twice for 10-15 minutes relieve anxiety "Sleep hygiene ( can read on net regarding it)

📍 My Opinion (As a Psychiatrist): It appears you're experiencing health anxiety with panic symptoms, possibly stemming from a traumatic period of physical weakness due to iron deficiency. When our body is vulnerable, the mind often develops an association between solitude and helplessness, which can evolve into phobias and panic episodes. Constant crying, inability to concentrate, nausea, and dizziness (despite normal reports) are strong indicators of somatic anxiety or panic disorder. These are treatable conditions. You're not alone, and most importantly, this is not your fault. Many patients in similar situations recover completely with appropriate care.
Next Steps
✅ Next Step (What should the patient do next): 1. Consult a psychiatrist for a detailed evaluation and diagnosis – this can help rule out Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, or Generalized Anxiety Disorder. 2. Start therapy – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is highly effective for fear of being alone and panic attacks. 3. If needed, low-dose medication can help reduce symptoms like dizziness, nausea, and fear quickly. 4. Regular monitoring of iron levels and general physical health should also continue alongside.
Health Tips
💡 Helpful Tips / Word of Caution: Avoid googling your symptoms repeatedly – this reinforces anxiety. Try grounding techniques like deep breathing, 5-4-3-2-1 sensory exercises, and daily journaling of emotions. Don't isolate – speak to someone you trust or join a support group. Recovery is possible, but don’t delay treatment, as prolonged anxiety may worsen the phobia. --- 📍 Dr Shivam Bhandari Jain — Consultant Psychiatrist 🏥 Health 4 U Clinic, 249 Gufa Mandir Road, Near First Step School, Jain Nagar, Nayapura, Lalghati, Bhopal 🕕 Clinic Timings: Monday to Saturday, 6 PM – 8 PM 📞 Call: Eight Eight Seven One Five Eight Two Six Seven Zero 📲 Instagram: @mentalhealth.4you ⭐ Google us: Search Dr Shivam Bhandari Jain on Google for location & reviews

The symptoms you have listed definitely need looking on. Iron deficiency anemia may amplify some psychiatric symptoms, thyroid irregularities could also be a reason for the same. But mostly it could be because of isolation and bed ridden status. You would definitely benefit from psychiatric medications as well as therapy.

Thank you for sharing this so openly. What you’re experiencing sounds deeply distressing, and it’s completely understandable. Sometimes physical health challenges like iron deficiency can trigger or heighten anxiety and panic, especially when you’re recovering alone. The fear of being unwell again can make your body hyper-alert, even when there’s no current danger. You’re not alone in this, and with the right support, it is possible to feel better. Warmly Seema Lall counselling psychologist
Next Steps
Consider working with a mental health professional who can help you build safety within your body and surroundings again. Therapy…especially when combined with grounding techniques and structured routines…can reduce anxiety and help you regain emotional confidence.
Health Tips
For now, try anchoring practices like slow breathing, gentle movement, or placing your feet firmly on the floor when you feel dizzy. Don’t isolate…reach out to someone you trust. Recovery takes time, but it does happen.

Hi This sounds really heavy your body went through a rough patch with iron deficiency, and now even though the physical part is healing, your mind is stuck in that fear mode. Being alone during that time probably made your brain associate “alone = danger,” so now, even when you’re okay, it panics. That’s why you’re getting dizzy, nauseous, crying it’s your nervous system stuck in survival mode. You’re not broken. But your brain needs re-teaching and I think therapy will help reset this loop properly. Take therapy. You can connect with me on nine two six six seven two six zero six five.
