Overthinking, lack of focus, stress

2026-07-07 17:06:42
Actually since childhood I was very sensitive like I overthink about every problem. Over analyze every thing in every possible way. Early childhood seemed like nature. Try to control on result of my action. Specially with career because it was since childhood like I can't handle ordinary life like becoming housewife and not going outside on home. But due to career stress I try to control my life every possible way like choosing the field where I was certain to get job. Whenever I think of some good career options only negative thoughts came if fail,  can't take risk, not any positive about any moment of life. Only fear whenever I listen any news I started to think like this has or will happen to me. Everytime very serious about anything. Many concerns of fear career, safety, ending with wrong marriage or losing loved ones, how I handle the things . Always in past loop like if taken right choice , today life sorted. Past loop is so strong wanted hours or day. Not concentrate on studies

It is completely understandable to feel completely overwhelmed when your mind constantly loops through "what-ifs," past choices, and worries about the future. When you are a naturally sensitive person, your brain often goes into overdrive, trying to protect you by overanalyzing every single detail to keep you safe from failure or hurt. It is incredibly exhausting to carry that heavy weight every day, but you are not broken for feeling this way your mind is simply working overtime to find certainty in an uncertain world. Counseling can give you a safe, gentle space to untangle all of these heavy thoughts. A counselor won't just tell you to "stop overthinking." Instead, they will work with you to understand where these fears come from and give you simple, practical tools to ground yourself in the present. Over time, therapy helps quiet that loud, exhausting mental noise, making it easier to regain your focus, let go of the urge to control everything, and step into your career and future with a genuine sense of calm and confidence.

From what you've described, it seems you've been experiencing excessive worry, overthinking, and a strong need for certainty since childhood. Constantly imagining worst-case scenarios, replaying past decisions, fearing failure, and trying to control every possible outcome can be emotionally exhausting. These patterns may be associated with conditions such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) or other anxiety-related difficulties, but a proper assessment by a mental health professional is needed before making any diagnosis.
Next Steps
I recommend consulting a psychologist for a detailed psychological assessment. Therapy, especially Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), can help you identify unhelpful thinking patterns, reduce overthinking, improve tolerance of uncertainty, and make decisions with greater confidence. If your symptoms are severe or significantly affecting your daily life, a psychiatrist can also assess whether medication may be beneficial.
Health Tips
Try to remember that seeking absolute certainty before making decisions often increases anxiety rather than reducing it. Recovery involves learning to tolerate uncertainty, challenge catastrophic thoughts, and focus on what is within your control. With the right support, these patterns can improve significantly, allowing you to regain confidence and enjoy life with less fear and overthinking.

Hi, thank you for sharing this. From what you’ve described, it seems that you’ve been carrying this pattern since childhood. Your mind has learned to stay on high alert by constantly thinking about worst-case scenarios, trying to predict every outcome, and looking for certainty before making decisions. While it may feel like this is protecting you, it is actually keeping you stuck in fear, self-doubt, and regret, making it difficult to focus on your studies or enjoy the present. The good news is that these patterns can be changed. With the right therapy, you can learn to manage overthinking, reduce the need to control everything, and become more comfortable with uncertainty. You don’t have to keep fighting these thoughts alone. If you’d like to take online therapy sessions, you can connect with me on nine two six six seven two six zero six five.

From what you have described, it seems that you have been struggling with excessive worry, overthinking, fear of uncertainty, and difficulty letting go of the past for many years. These patterns can make it hard to make decisions, concentrate, and enjoy daily life. With the right support, these thoughts can be managed, and you can learn healthier ways to cope with uncertainty and reduce overthinking.
Next Steps
I recommend consulting a psychologist for a detailed assessment and appropriate therapy, such as CBT, which is effective for anxiety and overthinking. With the right guidance, these patterns can improve significantly. You may consult me for professional support and personalized strategies to manage these concerns.

What you’re describing has a name — catastrophic thinking. It usually starts in childhood, when the mind learns that controlling every outcome is the only way to feel safe. That coping style helped you then. It’s exhausting you now. As I often tell clients: “You can’t control the ocean, but you can learn to surf the waves.” Right now you’re trying to control every wave before it even forms — career, marriage, the past — and that loop you describe (replaying old choices for hours) is the mind hoping to resolve something that replaying alone can’t fix. This pattern responds well to therapy, especially CBT, which helps interrupt these thought spirals and rebuild calm around uncertainty. I’d encourage you to start counselling soon rather than carry this alone — the earlier you begin, the sooner your focus and sense of control will return.

Hi... Its called 'Negative Anticipation', which constantly make you anticipate a negative outcome. It creates a sense of fear, anxiety, stress, etc. You had a difficult past which doesn't lets you think that any positive thing can happen to you now or in the near future. Your mind makes you believe that only negative outcomes are more plausible. But it is not true. We all have equal chances of experiencing a positive or a negative outcome based on our performance on the relevant variables. This kind of thinking arises out of lack of support and acceptance from the parenting figures or significant others. When we feel less accepted or without any real support, we tend to start feeling scared of every small thing. We tend to start thinking in "what if"? than "what will"? Unless we sort out the past and build self-esteem in the present, no constructive change can take place. Try to find a good therapist and work with him/her on rebuilding your mindset to anticipate less and act more. Our mind is a complex cosmic machine. It has a potential to build almost anything but it requires patience, practice, and precision. Try to start doing things more based on what you want, rather than based on what you don't want or want to avoid. Start with small things like buying a new peice of cloth, etc. and be okay with not having the perfect choice. Try to choose what you like and not what is going to be perfect.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. Interpersonal Guidance and Counselling is required.
