Met XL (metoprolol succinate) is effective for managing blood pressure and heart rate. If your brother’s parameters are stable, continuing 25 mg may be appropriate. Dose reduction below 25 mg should only be done under medical supervision to avoid rebound hypertension or heart rate issues. If side effects occur, gradual tapering or switching to alternatives like calcium channel blockers (e.g., amlodipine) or angiotensin receptor blockers (e.g., telmisartan) might be considered based on the underlying condition. Lifestyle changes, such as a low-salt diet and regular exercise, can support medication adjustments. Consult a doctor for a personalized plan and proper monitoring before making any changes to the dose or treatment.

You should be happy that the BP and pulse rate of your brother are controlled. You didn't mention any side effects that your brother is facing. Why do you want to do new experiments with the treatment? We should have a reason for anything that we want to do (more so in Medical treatment).

Dear Patient, Met XL (metoprolol) is commonly prescribed to manage high blood pressure and heart rate. The typical starting dose for hypertension is 50–100 mg taken twice daily. NHS A 25 mg dose is relatively low, and further reduction may not provide adequate therapeutic effects. Abruptly stopping or reducing the dosage without medical supervision can lead to adverse effects, including rebound hypertension or increased heart rate. Therefore, any adjustments should be made under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Alternative medications are available, such as carvedilol, which also lowers heart rate and blood pressure. GOODRX However, switching medications should only be considered after a thorough evaluation by a physician, as individual responses and side effect profiles vary. I recommend scheduling a consultation with your brother's healthcare provider to discuss his current treatment plan and any potential adjustments. If you have further questions or need personalized advice, feel free to contact me directly on WhatsApp at eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two. Best regards

If it's controlled, then that means the medicines are giving the desired benefits. Do not alter the dosage without getting professional help.
