Jowar chapatis

2022-07-13 02:19:57
I hv been eating Jowar cereal chapatis in lunch & dinner for last one week, as I hv been told that this is better than wheat flour chapati. In Breakfast, I take south Indian dishes other than chapatis. I wish to know if this regime will benefit me & if there is any downside to it. Rgds

Jowar is great for bloating, constipation. It adds a great amount of fiber to your diet. You can definitely continue. And also with time include other flours also like oats flour, ragi as they are also good in iron, fiber.

Region wise there are certain preferences. In India,  towards  north its wheat and in south/costal areas rice based meals we observe. Its not the matter of good or bad. But its quality/ Quantity matters. What that is local to you is good for you.  So one should  try to include variety of locally available food .So jowar / bajara/ragi/ or other local cereals you can include.   In certain situations  your dietitian may suggest to restrict  wheat. ( you have not mentioned a reason for restricting wheat here) Depending on the observations, you can decide to  continue or otherwise after talking to to your dietitian.  As far as you are consuming other cereals there should not be any harm as such. Thank you.

Jowar and  bajra is very good for weight loss and its healthy too. If you digest it easily or not facing any gastritis issues, it's perfectly fine . Try to use wheat, jowar ,bajra ragi and chana mix multigrain flour . Multigrain is tasty and healthy and easy to cook .
