Please consult an ENT Specialist for complete evaluation of your Pharynx and Larynx and examination of the nose. If no cause is found, get an X ray chest done and consult a General Physician.

It could be due to recent respiratory tract infection or repeated forceful throat and nose clearing. However ,if the duration is long and it's bothering you, consult with a general physician in your area for a clinical examination.

Response: Blood-stained mucus, especially without significant cough or cold, may have several causes, such as minor nasal trauma (due to dryness or forceful nose-blowing), irritated mucosa, or previous sinus infections leaving residual inflammation. However, to ensure there's no underlying condition, a thorough evaluation is essential. To address this, avoid forceful blowing of the nose, and keep your nasal passages moist with saline sprays. Applying a small amount of antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) gently inside the nostrils can help heal any minor abrasions. However, persistent blood in mucus warrants a more detailed investigation, including a nasal endoscopy or imaging if necessary. This will help rule out conditions like chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, or rarely, other nasal or systemic issues. I recommend scheduling a private consultation so I can thoroughly assess your condition and provide the best treatment tailored to your needs.
