Overthinking usually gets worse when we keep trying to stop the thoughts. Instead, notice the thought, label it as “just a thought,” and bring your attention back to what you’re doing. A simple CBT exercise: write the worry down, ask Is there anything I can actually do about this right now? and take one small action or postpone it.
If it’s happening daily and exhausting you, therapy can help you break the overthinking cycle. Medication may be useful in some cases, but it depends on what’s actually driving the anxiety.
