After RCT puss deposit again & pain
Yesterday I had RCT after pus was cleaned. Before the procedure, I had severe pain, a 103°F fever and high BP. I started Metrogyl 200 and Augmentin 1g twice daily.
On Day 2, the pain reduced a lot, but at night it returned with a 100°F fever.
Now I see new, painful pus/swelling on another side of the treated area. My dentist advised warm salt-water rinses and very gentle finger massage. Is this normal after RCT, or could it mean a new abscess or spreading infection? Is gentle massage safe? How often should I rinse? Since I had a 103°F fever yesterday and fever has returned today with new pus, should I see my dentist urgently? What symptoms need emergency care?

You need to visit the doctor again. The pus needs to be drained out. Do not wait for medicine to work. If the pus is big you will require a more medicine that means more days for the medicine to work. So go to the dentist and get the pus drained so that the medicine can act faster.

Fever of 103°F before treatment followed by another fever of 100°F with new pus and swelling is not something to ignore after an RCT. It may indicate that the infection is still active or that there is another area that needs treatment. An examination is needed to determine the cause.

Its not normal to have such pus after the rct --please take a radiograph and consult the dentist asap.

Hlo mam….if u will share picture here then it will be helpful for us to guide u appropriately.
Such situation can happen in cases if the infection has not gone properly and further treatment has started.
U should see your dentist asap.
Get the examination done and then further treatment.
If u have any visible swelling of your face then that need urgent care….if not no need to worry it will be healed once all the sittings of rct will be completed.
And yes there is no harm in doing gentle massages.
U should rinse 3-4 times in a day.

Hello,
This is not normal to have a puss formation after RCT. If there is pus formation, it means the infection is still persisting. But donât neet to worry it happens sometimes. You need to visit your doctor and consult with him/her also take radiograph so the reason can be easily diagonised for the same

Sorry to hear this ,but it is expected to have some sensitivity or mild pain following RCT, but not pus /swelling.
Recurrent pus formation &fever are signs of active acute infection.
Root canal treatment will need revisiting if infection due to the same tooth.
Please visit Dentist at the earliest .
