Congratulations for having a baby. After giving birth, most women require between 1,800 and 2,200 extra calories per day. A breast-feeding mother like you requires 500 more calories. It could be higher if you're underweight or have a very active lifestyle (more than 45 minutes of exercise per day). The correct dosage and duration of vitamin supplementation is another thing you must discuss.
Pay close attention to:Â what you eat can affect your baby if you're breastfeeding.Â
1. No alcohol
2. No Sugar and sugary products.
3. No fried foods that contain trans fats
4. Limit your caffeine intake to no more than three cups per day, or risk disrupting your baby's sleep and temperament (they may be irritable).Â
5. Fancy fish, to be avoided: Some fish contains Mercury, a toxin that can harm your child, so it's best to avoid eating swordfish, shark, king mackerel, and tilefish.
6. Restaurants foods
7. Supplemental essential nutrients It's important to have some healthy snacks on hand. Wash and prepare some fresh vegetables and fruit to keep in the fridge, and you'll be more likely to snack on those instead of on chips or cookies. 8.Drink plenty of water. You should drink 6â10 glasses of water daily, whether you're nursing or not. Even milk and fruit juice are acceptable. But fresh fruits and vegetables are ideal to take. You can add some soups or smoothies too. Ask your near and dear ones, family or friends, to cook their favourite meals at home and share them with you so that you can get a variety of home-cooked meals. At this point in time, do not think about calories. It is the quality of the food that is important, not the quantity.
Enjoy motherhood without thinking about weight gain. First make the baby comfortable with this new world and then think about anything.
