Hello 👋 I completely understand your concern — you’ve done the right thing by cleaning the lancet with Savlon wipes and being cautious. To clarify, Accu-Chek lancets are meant for single use only, as even microscopic traces of blood can potentially transmit infections like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or (rarely) HIV, though the actual risk from one-time reuse within family is extremely low — almost negligible. Since you cleaned it immediately and the lancet was used by family (not an unknown person), the chances of infection are very unlikely. However, for complete peace of mind, I recommend: Monitoring for any redness, swelling, or pain at the prick site (very unlikely). You may do screening blood tests (HbsAg, Anti-HCV, HIV) after 6 weeks and again at 3 months to completely rule out risk. Avoid sharing needles or lancets in the future, even among family members — it’s the safest practice. Don’t worry — medically, this is a very low-risk situation, but I completely understand how anxious such thoughts can feel. If you’d like me to guide you step-by-step on which tests to do, when to repeat them, and how to handle the anxiety naturally, you can message me privately on WhatsApp at nine three two six zero two zero five three six. We’ll ensure you stay completely safe and stress-free 🌿

Each lancet is meant for single use only .. even if it looks clean ... because once it punctures the skin, a trace of blood stays on it, which can carry viruses or bacteria. Yes, there’s a small but definite risk, especially if it’s used between different people .. even family members. Possible infections include: Hepatitis B or C HIV (though the chance is extremely low) HIV doesn’t survive long outside the body. The virus dies quickly (within seconds to minutes) when exposed to air. So by the time the same lancet was reused for you, the virus ...even if present ...would already be inactive. Local skin infection (redness, swelling, pus)
Next Steps
Since you already cleaned the finger with Savlon, and if you don’t see redness, pain, or swelling, risk is very minimal. Monitor the site for a few days. If any infection signs appear ... pain, swelling, discharge, or fever ..consult a doctor. In future, always use a new sterile lancet for each person.

Nothing. It is too late. Consult a General Physician in your area if you develop any evidence of infection in your fingers

You shouldn't use used needles even they belong to family, ask the  person to check his viral markers with whom you shared the needle, if any of them positive, take post exposure prophylaxis if you used it in last  three days then pep will be useful, check your viral markers after 3 mnths

If the same needle was used, you should get the viral markers (HBsAg, HCV, HIV) tested. If a new needle was used, there’s no need to worry. It’s advisable to check your blood sugar once a month to monitor your levels, and visit your consultant every 6 months for routine follow-up.

Did all of you use the same lancet to prick your fingers? That is highly not recommended. And if you are still concerned with needle prick injury, then there are blood tests you would want to take. Connect online to discuss further.
