9th month son has Diarrhoea from 8 days
Hi, My 9th month old son is suffering from Diarrhoea since last 8 days. He was passing stools 15 times. From last 3-4 days he was also having fever and passing stools 8-9 times. Last night he vomited 5 times. Pediatrician suggested CBC and stool test. He also prescribed attached medication. Looking forward suggestions or any alternatives.

He is suffering from gastroenteritis. It is a serious disease. Main danger is from dehydration, for which he may need IV fluids. So if child is lethargic, unable to drink, not passing urine, tongue dry, then immediately go to doctor for intravenous drip. Continue breastfeeding. Give Zinc syrup 20 mg daily for 14 days If dehydration not severe, give ORS solution as much as child can take Give khichri, ripe banana, lassi Other investigation is Urea and electrolytes If vomiting still present, give small and frequent feeds.

Passing 15times/day along with is dangerous for a 9months old baby.
