My upper central incisors were fractured in an accident. After that I got root canal on them. Lateral on I got braces for about 2 years. I am going to get crowns on them. But, the upper central incisors have about 3mm of tooth structure above gum line because of which my dentist is recommending getting 4 unit crowns and use lateral upper incisors to provide some support to the upper central incisor crowns? Should I go for post and core? Also what could be its expected life?

3 mm tooth structure is enough to go for post and core of that root canal treated tooth....life expectancy will be 5 years and more if proper care and periodic check up has been done.....it is better not to disturb the healthy teeth...however clinical examination is necessary to come for treatment conclusion...
