Excess crown lengthing done
I got cosmetic crowns done (anterior upper teeth about 2 months ago ).
I didn't have enough tooth structure and the dentist did crown lengthening which he did a bit in excess... I didn't have any gum issues, but he said it had to be done since there's was not much of tooth structure for the crowns to hold on to.
My gums look very uneven now, but what botheres me even more is that I have a slight gap in between two teeth now.. (a black triangle between my lateral and central incisor). I never had this before and I'm really sad to see this.
My question is this : Is there anything that can be done for my gums to fill in this gap?
Is there anything I can do apart from massaging my gums to initiate gum growth?

Hi,
The gum fill can happen in 3 ways:
1. Natural way : Takes upto 6 months or longer. You have to wait and keep massaging gums gently.
2. Artificially : Where the crown can have the part close to the gums,pink in color, which shall mask the black triangle (gingival porcelain)- to be done by a Prosthodontist
3. Getting a checkup done by a Periodontist (Gum specialist) who can ascertain the need and feasibility of doing a connective tissue grafting for the same.
Which way would be suitable for you depends on the size of black triangle,how much is it visible when you talk/smile and what is your preference.

Gums will grow. It might take 4-6 months but they will fill up. This is my core speciality so I would like to help you. If you send me pictures I can help better
