She is angel in disguise. We were referred by our Gynaecologist as there were some concerns with my pregnancy scans. Her team did the thorough scans and then she came and explained us everything. She counselled on the pros and cons for the procedure we were to go through in best detail possible. The procedure went smoothly and few months later I had a healthy kid. We had to wait around 4 hours for the scan. Very high wait time no doubt, but I honestly don’t mind that because with each scans there are major decisions made in BFMC not just about an unborn kid but the families associated. It looked to me a teaching centre because few medical students were present when Dr Prathima performed the procedure on me. I was fine with that, on job training is really necessary but under the senior doctor’s supervision. Overall I think BFMC is an asset to Bangalore..our country really needs more such centres where expectant parents can be assured of the well being of their kid. Thank you Dr. Prathima and team.

We were referred to her by our GYN, to get a second opinion on an erroneous diagnosis of hypoplastic nasal bone by the resident radiologist at Fortis.

The very first time we met her, we could see the sea of difference between a normal radiologist and a fetal expert like Dr Radhakrishnan. Dr Radhakrishnan is more like a radiologist, Ob, GYN all rolled into one. She does all of the ultrasounds herself after her very competent assistants do the basic scans. She goes through every aspect of the ultrasound in great detail, talks to the patient during and after the scans, empowers and includes them in the decision-making and tries to create a connect between the expecting parents and the baby during the scan. When she encountered a new but grave issue in one of our follow up scans, she took the initiative to speak with our GYN in person and stress on the importance of the findings. Even after we discontinued our treatment with her due to our less-than-satisfactory experience with our GYN, Dr Radhakrishnan’s assistant called us to check on how our pregnancy was going a week later. This shows how much she cares for her patients and the values she brings to her line of work. Go with Dr Radhakrishnan and her team, no matter who your GYN is. It will make a world of difference.

Well I am writing this after around 4 months of my wife's delivery and I want to Thank you Dr. Prathima for the successful surgery for Twin to Twin Tranfusion Syndrome (TTTS). After detection of TTTS form my wife's twin pregnancy we had been referred from Motherhood Hospital. After thorough checkup at Bangalore Fetal Medicine Centre, Dr. Parthima acted very promptly and decided to the "Fetascopic Laser Ablation" on the next day itself. Laser device was not available in Bangalore at that time and miraculously Dr Prathima mangaed it from Pondicherry within two days time. Dr. Prathima did the procedure at Manipal Hospital and needless to say it was completely successfull. Theoritcally this procedure has a success rate of 50 % and obviously because Dr. Pathima accuracy it was 100 % succesfull. As I mentioned around 4 months have passed since the delivey and babies are growing well. We want to thank you Dr. Prathima from our bottom of heart and 10 star from our side.

One of the most dreadful, terrible, rude doctors that you will ever find. We were referred to her by our regular Gynecologist for 19-20th Week Anomaly Ultrasound scan.

Why were we referred?

We had faced no problem but still as a measure of caution, our Doctor referred to her.

What was detected during the Scan?

During the scan, an Echogenic intracardiac focus (EIF) was discovered in the scan.

What was her opinion?

The doctor refused to give us her opinion. These were her exact words - " EIF is found in around 10 % of fetuses. The risk of the fetus having Chromosome 21 disorder was 1:6000 during the 12th-week scan and still remains the same. However, some couples do go for Amniocentesis to rule out any anomaly. However, the risk of having a miscarriage after Amniocentesis is 1:300. So tell me what do you guys want? "

We asked her what would she recommend?

Her response: " Well, I can't recommend anything as everyone perceives risks differently"

I was aghast.

Why do we go to a doctor? To get their opinion as they are the subject matter expert. If as a patient seeking recommendation we could make sense of data, we would not need doctors and Pathlabs would have worked for all of us. How do we know 1:6000 is less or 1:300 is a risk worth going for.

It is well established that The EIF has a very different connotation in a low-risk patient when it is an isolated finding compared with one of several findings or when it is detected in a patient at high risk of aneuploidy based on prior testing.

Since our NT Scan and Double marker test were in the normal range, Isolated Markers doesn't present a significant risk. Most patients are now being offered first-trimester screening and are already designated at low risk or high risk well before their 16- to 20- week survey, when an EIF may be identified. By the time patients have the second-trimester sonogram, the population of fetuses with Down syndrome left undetected is very small—perhaps no more than 15%. It is, therefore, far less likely for an isolated EIF to indicate a fetus with Down syndrome in a population that has undergone first-trimester nuchal translucency and serum testing, where most affected fetuses already have been identified. Thus, the prior odds of Down syndrome obviously change dramatically when an EIF is identified as an isolated finding in such a population. The presence of an isolated EIF in a patient who has not undergone any testing has a far different connotation from one who has undergone the prior first-trimester testing and has received a low-risk result.

When told that there is a calcification in the fetal heart, most patients panic and fear the baby will be abnormal. And we did panic too. For good one week, we met many different doctors, went through different tests even though all these doctors told not to worry. This was largely because Doctor Veena had planted that seed of doubt.

Even with skillful counseling, there still remains, in many patients, a degree

of uncertainty as to whether or not amniocentesis should be done. Many of these patients ultimately undergo amniocentesis for risk of Down syndrome far below the accepted level for invasive testing.

Those who elect to forgo amniocentesis likely continue to worry about the health of their fetuses for 5-6 month until the baby is delivered.

Dr. Veena doesn't realize that she is putting a mom-to-be under severe stress by raising her hands and not giving her opinions. Moms to be are not supposed to be put under stress just because

1) few extra tests can be prescribed

2) doctors don't want to own up to risk

For all other parents to be >> “Soft” sonographic markers account for only a 4% increase in the detection of abnormalities while contributing a 12-fold increase in the false-positive rate."

Even at low risk, many patients who are found to have isolated soft markers elect to have amniocentesis, leading to many healthy fetuses dying of complications of unnecessary amniocenteses. So please be sure of going for amniocentesis.

I would also urge the doctor to counsel patients in case Isolate EIFs are discovered. **** ** *** ***** **** ** * ****** ** *** They should also have some empathy for their patients. Empathy was completely missing.

I hope doctors listen to this feedback, take it positively and inform the next parents accordingly in case Isolated marker is discovered. ***** **** ******** ****** ***** ** * *****************************************************************

I had been to Dr. Anitha for my NT scan last week, the doctor is just amazing very patient and explains well. Very kind doctor! Planning to go to her for my next scan as well.

Visited her at cloudnine for NT scan. She was extremely rude, impatient, arrogant and disrespectful towards me. It was a nightmare of 20 min in the scanning room. She started cribbing that abdomen is not clear, fetus not giving position and am at war here. She didn’t even explain anything nor bothered to answer any questions. I am getting it redone from some **** radiologist. Nurse/attendant was much polite and well behaved than her.

I had a highly disappointing experience with this doctor. She lacks clear communication and does not take the time to explain things properly. Her analysis was so unsatisfactory that I had to repeat my scan elsewhere. I strongly recommend avoiding her if you value thorough and compassionate medical care.

Found her rude. Would not recommend. There are kinder, more polite doctors out there that will be a better choice.

Had gone to her with the hope that the doc would understand why someone wants an abortion. The doc spoke in such a way like I was committing a crime. I have an older kid and having twins would b very stressful for me and I changed my mind because of her comments and now have twins *** *** ** *********** *** ** ********** *********** ** *****
