Visited Dr. Sheela R. Gajapathy (Gynecologist)
Happy with: Doctor friendlinessExplanation of the health issueTreatment satisfaction
We have been living in Bangalore for the past three years and the day we found out we were pregnant, the first and most important decision was choosing the right doctor.
Although I already had a regular gynaecologist, I came across Dr. Sheela's profile on Practo and had a strong instinct to consult her once before making our final decision. Looking back, that turned out to be one of the best decisions we made.
I still remember our very first consultation. Since it was our first pregnancy, we had countless basic questions, and Dr. Sheela patiently spent nearly 30 minutes answering every one of them without making us feel rushed. What impressed us the most was that, at the end of the consultation, she simply said, **You are free to decide your doctor."* We had never experienced a doctor saying that so openly. It reflected her confidence, honesty, and genuine concern for her patients rather than simply acquiring one. That was the moment we knew we wanted her to guide us through our pregnancy.
Unfortunately, our pregnancy was far from easy. Almost every scan brought a new challenge. At one point, we were told there was a possibility of Down syndrome, which led us to undergo an amniocentesis. It was one of the most emotionally difficult phases of our lives. Throughout it all, Dr. Sheela stood by us with unwavering strength and reassurance. She never allowed fear to overshadow facts and always explained every report and every possibility with remarkable clarity and compassion. Visiting her never felt like visiting a doctor—it felt like talking to a trusted friend who genuinely cared and guided us through every difficult step.
Even after overcoming that hurdle, new complications arose. My placenta was significantly thicker than normal, affecting the baby's nutrition and growth. While many of our friends and family had experiences where doctors immediately prepared them for a preterm delivery in similar situations, Dr. Sheela took a balanced and thoughtful approach. *** ***** ******* *********** ****** ******** she recommended growth scans every two weeks to closely monitor the baby's progress and encouraged us to stay positive while remaining vigilant. Her confidence gave us the strength to trust ourselves, trust our baby, and most importantly, trust her guidance.
We continued crossing one milestone after another until the 35th week, when we learned that my amniotic fluid levels were dropping and there was evidence of fetal bowel movement. Once again, Dr. Sheela calmly explained the situation. She asked us not to panic, advised another scan within a week to monitor the fluid levels, and reassured us that the bowel movement could be managed after delivery if needed. Her calmness helped us stay composed during yet another stressful phase.
One thing we truly appreciated throughout our journey was that she never imposed decisions on us. Instead, she explained every option, discussed the benefits and risks, and empowered us to choose what we believed was **** for both me and our baby.
We eventually reached full term and decided to induce labour at 37 weeks and 1 day because we did not want to take unnecessary risks with the aging placenta and declining amniotic fluid. Dr. Sheela recommended inducing labour first to give us the **** possible chance of a normal delivery rather than opting directly for a C-section. After nearly 16 hours of induction, there was no cervical dilation, and together we made the decision to proceed with a C-section. During the surgery, we discovered that the umbilical cord was unusually short, preventing the baby from descending towards the cervix. Looking back, it reaffirmed that the decision was absolutely the right one for both mother and baby.
Our parents, too, developed immense trust in Dr. Sheela. She patiently explained every report, every concern, and every decision to them without ever appearing rushed. Her willingness to answer questions and involve the family gave everyone confidence during such an emotional journey.
Even after our baby's delivery, Dr. Sheela continued checking on both of us, ensuring that our recovery was going well. Personally, this level of care was something I had never witnessed before, even though my sisters and sisters-in-law had recently gone through childbirth themselves.
Looking back at our journey, we realize that having a ************* doctor is important, but having one who genuinely cares, listens patiently, reassures you during your darkest moments, and treats you like family is priceless. Dr. Sheela was exactly that for us. She wasn't just our obstetrician—she was our guide, our source of strength, and a constant pillar of support throughout one of the most challenging yet beautiful journeys of our lives.
We will always be grateful to Dr. Sheela for helping us bring our little one safely into this world, and we wholeheartedly recommend her to every expecting parent looking for not just an exceptional doctor, but an extraordinary human being. Whenever we plan for a second baby, Dr. Sheela will undoubtedly be our first and only choice.

I had consulted several gynaecologists for my fibroid condition, and each one inevitably told me that surgery was the only option. While that may have been true, the way it was communicated left me anxious and fearful about having to undergo an operation.
That’s when I came across Dr. Sheela Gajapathy. I initially visited her for a minor concern, but she took the time to listen patiently and explain my condition in great detail. She also confirmed that surgery would eventually be required, but what made all the difference was her reassurance — she clearly explained that it was not urgent and that my symptoms could be managed with medication in the meantime, allowing me the time to make a comfortable and informed decision.
Dr. Sheela thoroughly explained the possibility of laparoscopic surgery and patiently walked me through the entire process, including the procedure itself, along with its pros and cons. Her calm demeanour, clarity, and the time she devoted to explaining every detail gave me immense confidence. It was then that I decided I wanted to go ahead with the surgery under her care.
On the day of the surgery, she was extremely reassuring and helped me stay calm. Post-surgery, she followed up closely on my recovery, which went remarkably well — I was up and about the very next day.
I am truly grateful to have found Dr. Sheela Gajapathy. She is calm, compassionate, incredibly thorough, and instils great confidence in her patients. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a gynaecologist who not only treats the condition but also genuinely cares for the patient.

so me and husband wanted to do a MTP as we were not ready for the child. and we were wanting the best doctor for us as we did not want any complications in the future. so we found dr Vanita Vaishnav and checked the reviews and thought she would be the best pic.(not knowing what was awaiting us)
we went there and discussed, so she was very polite and asked us to get my blood tests and ultrasound done so that she could proceed further. and asked us to send the reports on whatsapp and called us at Apollo clinic(HSR layout). she told us about the whole procedure and asked us to pay while she gave the MTP kit to me. okay first of all the amount we paid for half an hour of her precious time, a MTP Kit for 300-400rs and an after MTP ultrasound (1500 Generally anywhere) was hefty(8.3k).but we didn't flinch at all thinking that she would be there guiding us about the complications and depression MTP could bring. And also the guidance on contraceptives methods were also a part of the procedure.
so she asked us to come back and take an ultrasound after a week or so of the procedure at Apollo only. we went there on time only to find out she wasn't there and probably was on vacation. we still didn't mind and had a call with her. the way she talked was not the same as she was talking before the amount was paid( actually we told, we were leaving the city soon, so would be better if she can meet or guide us further on contraception, she replied- just because u are leaving the city does not change my procedure). after the call, we went and asked the receptionist about the ultrasound. ohh God, the service that clinic provides is very bad, nobody pays attention to the patients, faced total ignorance from the entire team and the guy who was to do the ultrasound. after a long verbal spat, they kind of sent us to some other diagnostic centre. things at that diagnostic centre were fine.
so after the ultrasound and after few days, i was facing some serious depression, which i wanted to discuss with the doctor and thought may be she could give some input , but there wasn't any reply. i ignored and went on to ask about the contraceptive methods which she told she would definitely help with as its part of the procedure. messages were getting read , but i never got a single reply from her.
but the same doc until payment was done was replying to me normally. * ***** **** **** **** *** * *** **** **** ******* ***** **** ****** * *** *** *** **** * ********* ***** **** **** *** **** *** ********

I had an extremely ********* *** disappointing experience at Apollo Clinic - BDA Complex, HSR Layout.
I visited the hospital for PCOD treatment. During consultation, I was informed that I had Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D3 deficiency and was advised to take injections. I was otherwise completely stable and managing my health well. This was supposed to be a simple and safe part of my treatment.
