*** ********** ** ********* ********** I came in feeling very weak and having low blood pressure. I was going to visit as outpatient but fainted right in front of the Sagar hospital. Hospital responded quickly, I appreciate very much. They stabilized me in ER with IV fluids and I started to feel better. They did a good workup and did all the tests including blood work. Resulted showed my Hemoglobin was only around 7. Two emergency physicians including a gastroentrologist and an internist reviewed my results and recommended me to see Dr. Govindappa, whom I have been seeing for a long time. He was quite rude but I tolerated it. I was barely able to stand and yet he forced me to stand while measuring my blood pressure. He told me I didn't eat well and hence the hemoglobin was low. He was rude, ********** ** *** ** *** *********** Did not provide any rationale on why I was feeling weak other than telling me that I did not eat well. Last 2 days, I was vacationing with my son and did eat really well. He would not listen to me. He had my file but still would not read the file to see what medications I was taking including blaming my son that he did not know what medicines I was taking. As a doctor, you should document the medications and review as needed. He did none of that and relied on me to tell him what medicines I was taking. Very unfortunate! Any doctor who sees a patient feeling weak, low BP and low heamoglobin should take the case seriously.
He sent me back home. I went home that night and did OK for another day. Was feeling very weak and by the next night, I was feeling weak again. I called ambulance and got myself admitted to the hospital. All tests were done including CT scan, endoscopy and blood work, blood pressure etc. The workup was excellent, I have no complaints. However, the gastrogentologist, Dr. Anurag Lavekar visited me and barely did any diagnosis. No proper bedside conduct whatsoever! He spoke too softly and was murmuring his assessment. *** * **** *** ** ********** **** ** ********** *** **** * ** *** ******* ** * ********* ****** **** ***** **** ** *** ****** *** ***** ** *** ******** ***** ** *** ********** *** **** ** **** **** **** ********** * ******* **** **** ** * ********* ********* ** ***** ** *** *** *** *** **** *********** **** ***** Anyway, they did a CT scan, endoscopy and a biopsy, again a good workup. It appears that I was bleeding internally due to an ulcer causing my blood pressure to drop and consequently feel very weak. They required me to get blood transfusion but would not help with getting the donors. My blood group is B negative, a very rare blood group. My son was running around to find donors. Luckily, 2 great souls offered the blood. I was feeling a lot better the following day after the transfusion. During the rounds Dr. Govindappa again did not apologize for sending me home earlier, blamed me and my son (visiting me from the USA) for not knowing what medications I was taking and was extremely rude. ** ****** ******* *********, treated me and my son like as an ignorant. I retired as a Director of a large Public sector company. Dr. Govindappa's ignorance has no limits. I have the recordings of both Dr. Govindappa and Dr. Lavekar during their rounds as proof, if needed.
OK, that is not the end of this tragedy. After I felt better, Dr. Govindappa decided to discharge me the next day. I felt great. We spent the night hoping we will go home in the morning. Support staff in the hospital was excellent. They did a good job. Decision to discharge me was made the previous evening around 6:00 PM. Next day, we waited until 1:00 PM, no discharge papers or any doctor visit. My son was running around paying the bills and figuring out when we will get discharged. No sign of anyone. Nurse did not have any idea. Finally, my son lost his patience and complained to the nurse. The floor manager rushed to our room with the discharge papers and we left without seeing anyone else. We asked the nurse and the floor manager about the biopsy report and they said they haven't seen it.
I went home feeling a lot better and decided never to visit this hospital. After a week or so, I wanted the biopsy report. So, I went to the hospital to get the report. I got the report and went to see Dr. Govindappa for one last time since I was physically there. He looked at the report and asked me to see an ulcer specialist. No other comments. I also realized reading the date on the report that the biopsy results were available several days before but no one cared to inform me that the report was ready or what it said.
I came back home and sent a picture of the biopsy report to my daughter-in-law who is a physician in the USA. She was shocked to see that the report said I have stomach cancer. Can anyone believe this? How can the lab ignore a result like that* *** *** *** ********** ** ** ****** *** **** *** ******** ****** ** *** * ***** ********* ** **** ******* ***** *** **** ******* Avoid this hospital at all cost. ****** ******* *** ****** ******* ******** ** ****** ******* ** *** ***** ********** ** ******* ***** **** ***** I am already getting treatment in a different hospital. ******* **** ******* ******* ***** ***** **** ** *** **** ******** **** ********* **** ****** ** ** ** ********** *** *** **** ******** ****** ** *******

** ********** ** *** **** ********* ****** *** ****** **** *** ******* ** ********** * He identifies the problem based on symptoms and very rarely suggests lab tests . He also prescribes the least medicine, sometimes tells me to exercise and not depend on medicine! He is also very clear on the medicine prescribed and explains why each one is added.
Recently went to him during the lockdown time for an allergic reaction. he immediately analysed it correctly as a viral infection and started the treatment with drugs. It got much worse that day but started improving the next day onwards. If not for his timely detection it would have been very severe.
