I was looking for an Eye Doctor for Cataract Surgery for myself (63 years) and my mother-in-law (80 yrs) in Kolkata and Bengaluru. I got many recommendations from IT industry colleagues in these two cities, but finally after reading lot of reviews, I chose Dr Sanghamitra Burman, based out of Bengaluru. My eyes were impacted 70% and 30% with cataract, while my mother-in-law's impact was as high as 90% and 70%. Whenever I fixed an appointment with her secretary, we were looked after exactly at that time with zero waiting time. She makes you feel at home. The best part was that our Operation time was scheduled for 9 am for both the days for both eyes and she was in the hospital before that. ***** ********** **** she valued patient's time as well. We were operated on schedule successfully on two days (one eye on each day) with a gap of one week. Amazing pair of hands. Each operation lasted for 20 mins. Very smooth operation. Post operation, she called us for regular checkups, specially for my mother-in-law and she treated us with utmost care. Before Cataract operation, it was difficult for me to sit in the meetings and review slides. Even it was difficult to participate while attending international conferences. It was also difficult to read airline gate departures at airports on big screens. Now, I can see everything, whether it is far or near distance and that too with sharpness. It was a month old stye and she clearly mentioned that I would need a surgery. I visited doctor for a second opinion on proceeding with eye-sight correcting surgery. She ran me through the many health aspects that I needed to stabilize before considering surgery - issues like prediabeties, hormonal imbalance, Vitamin D deficiency, work stress which led to myopia only few years ago, etc. She told me to work on these and get tested in 6 and 12 months before planning surgery.

I'm super grateful for this honest advice. I had been told by certain Bellandur doctor that I can get it done immediately. That did not sound right to me, considering I haven't tested my eye in 3 years. Hence paid visit to this doctor.

I had a tiny metal particle, possibly from construction dust stuck in my eye. The doctor identified and resolved my issue in no time and the treatment was painless. I paid on Practo for a video consultation and she mentioned its not possible to assess my problem unless seen through microscope. After I got the particle removed in her clinic, she didn't even charge anything as I have already paid on Practo but it wasn't helpful to me. Such a nice gesture from her!I also felt I made the right choice looking at all the awards she had put up in her clinic.Totally recommend this doctor 👌
