Hoped for better: Explanation of the health issueTreatment satisfactionValue for money
I had history of acid-reflux and heartburn from last two years. I have gone through many treatment but nothing worked. In march 2021 I had my first endoscopy and I was diagnosed with small hiatal hernia. My doctor said symptoms can be cured by medication with lifestyle changes and surgery is immediately required. For one whole year I tried medication with lifestyle changes but the situation got worse for me. I had following symptoms:1) Acid- reflux2) Random chest pain (on both sides)3) it felt like something is stuck in my throat and I was always trying to cough it out.4) Heartburn, generally when I am hungry5) Shortness of breath.6) whenever I was eating something, I felt like vomiting. In march 2022, I went to Bangalore for the treatment and I had my second endoscopy. Now that small hernia is converted into a large hiatal hernia with fundal erosions. The doctor who did endoscopy has suggested me to go for 24 PH hour manometry before surgery. Instead I went to surgeon Gowda and told him everything. He talked for almost 10 minutes'and suggested me to go for fundoplication. He was kind enough to answer my doubts through WhatsApp, he made me sure that the symptoms will disappear and will not persist after the surgery. I will be able to Live a normal Life again So I went for surgery with him on 8th April 2022.Now after 2 months of surgery I am having following symptoms:1) unexplained left shoulder pain which is very severe sometimes even painkillers won't work. ******* ***** *** ** **** ***** *** **** ** ********** Whenever I ask him what's wrong he says it will settle down.2) sometimes I face problem in swollowing food 3) it feels like something is stucj in my throat and I am trying to cough it out.4) severe heartburn when I am hungry5) I lost around 5 kgs of wait6) shortness of breath7) my diet is cut by 50% because i feel full too early nowI would suggest to choose your surgeon carefully before going for surgery and do not avoid pH manometry. **** **** ******* ** *** *** ******** ** **** ******* *** **** ** ****** * **** ********* ****

I was referred to Dr. Maruthesh Gowda for gallbladder stones after suffering from recurrent abdominal pain radiating to the back for over four years. He had actually recommended surgery a year ago, but I was not ready at that time. When the pain episodes became more frequent and severe this year, I came back to him.
Dr. Maruthesh Gowda ordered a fresh ultrasound which revealed chronic cholecystitis with an overdistended gallbladder, wall thinning, multiple stones, and biliary sludge. He explained the condition clearly, gave me three treatment options with honest pros and cons of each, and never pressured me toward any particular choice. That kind of patient-centered approach is rare.
The surgery — laparoscopic cholecystectomy — was performed on 12th June 2026 at Manipal Hospital Hebbal. The surgical report later confirmed dense adhesions which made the procedure more technically challenging than a standard case. Despite this, the surgery was uneventful. I was discharged the very next morning, able to eat and walk normally.
What impressed me equally was the post-operative care. Dr. Maruthesh Gowda responded promptly to WhatsApp messages throughout my recovery — answering questions about dark stool, skin rashes, and wound changes — each time with clear, calm guidance **** ********* *********** ********
The histopathology report confirmed chronic cholecystitis with no malignancy — exactly what he had diagnosed clinically. The wounds healed well and I was cleared at the 7-day follow-up with no dietary restrictions.
If you are looking for a surgeon who combines technical expertise with genuine patient communication, I would strongly recommend Dr. Maruthesh Gowda. His NHS UK training and experience with complex cases is evident — but what stands out equally is his accessibility and patience with patients throughout the recovery process.

I visited Dr Gowda around 11 months back and waited to write the review to see if the treatment is effective for long term. I got a severe bout of loose motions way back in second half of year 2010. It never really got cured. I consulted many doctors, did all sorts of possible tests which came out clean indicating no issue. No doctor could diagnose what the issue is and the issue continued. Imagine having loose motions for almost 16 years and the urgency I felt every time. I had to be within 10 second proximity to the toilet. My quality of life had deteriorated over the years, young years of life gone, family suffering - as going out with me meant constant fear of unforeseen emergencies and so on. It has left a permanent impact on my health, which cannot be undone. And yet there was no diagnosis.
When I visited Dr Gowda, he heard my case, saw all past records and explained to me my issue and finally put a name to it - IBS. That done, he recommended certain medication - a course for 15 days. I was fairly feeling much in control by the time I finished the course.
He also made sure I do not have to travel to his clinic as i stay very far and told me to share my concerns over email so that I do not end up wasting my time, energy, money just to see him. I was really touched by this gesture (given the loose motion problem).
He then asked me to repeat the course for 15 more days. ** *********** ****** ** *********** ****** ** *** ******. And till date I have no episode of loose motion over long time. If I happen to eat something spicy, i do get it but it corrects on its own without any medication within a day or two.
** ***** ** ** **** **** *** *** *** I thank Dr Gowda from the bottom of my heart and very strongly recommend him for gastro issues.

My father had Laparoscopic colon/Rectal cancer surgery. He had given impartial advice to have chemo and radiotherapy prior to surgery. Waited for 6 weeks after completing radiotherapy. Even at his age he was discharged walking independently 3 days after surgery. He had counselled regarding temporary stoma and we are very happy he did not need it. It's been 3 months and PET CT has shown no recurrence.
One thing stands out is his calm approach and re assurance he gives to patients and family.
He clearly outlines whole process beforehand and educates the patients

We consulted Dr. Maruthesh Gowda for our mother’s acidity issues which actually turned out to be gall bladder infection and stones. He comes across as a down to earth, simple, straight forward and no-nonsense medical professional which is a rarity in today’s times. He was quick to diagnose the issue, advise tests to confirm and complete the surgery. The surgery went on well and my mother is feeling much better. He gave us a feeling of being in safe hands from day 1 and we can’t thank him enough! He doesn’t give too many medicines and reiterates the need for natural healing. This review will also not be complete till we thank Ms. Supreetha who was quick and patient throughout in guiding and helping us in the initial stages for coordination. His clinic is hygienic and maintains all protocols for Covid safety which also instills confidence.Thank you once again!

The slot available is only 10 minutes. It is highly inadequate for patients who have a chronic problem, to explain their issues to doctor, and for doctor to understand the issue and write a prescription. It is particularly required for patients who don’t stay in metro cities, and hence don’t have access to good healthcare in places of stay.
I suggest Practo should give option of longer time slot (e.g. 20 minutes ), and if required, more fees can be charged for the same.
We discussed a chronic problem and an immediate problem (related to chronic) with doctor. We felt 10 minutes was very inadequate for the same. Even doctor was in a hurry and we also didn’t insist, since we knew our time slot is only 10 minutes.

My sister had digestion problems right from her childhood days due to a medicine reaction when she was at school. This lead into complications recently - we went to Dr Maruthesh and were super worried - but after talking to him we had so much confidence that this problem for my sister will be fixed - he recommended a surgery which was a success and my sister is back to being normal. We are so thankful with the way he handled this complication, explained everything in detail for us and helped us out of it. Thanks Doctor!

I have been taking Mounjaro Injections for Weight loss from Dr Maruthesh Gowda. He keeps consultation simple. No additional or Mandatory programme to enrol. I have been losing 1.5 to 2 kg/week consistently for last 2 months. I feel energetic and really happy with progress. He gives you medications to take if needed for potential side effects and after following his instructions, I never had to use them. I had consulted another 2 doctors where I had to enrol for a programme but with Dr Maruthesh Gowda its just weekly cost. I would strongly recommend him for weight loss treatment.

Took my father who was having bleeding while passing motions. After thorough history and examination doctor suggested we do colonoscopy. He was unfortunately diagnosed with rectal cancer from biopsy taken at the time of colonoscopy. Doctor explained staging process which included MRI rectum and CT scan. Luckily it was stage1 cancer. Doctor did Laparoscopic anterior resection and my father was discharged after just 4 days. Over all good experience. We are glad we went early as doctor was able to diagnosed and treat rectal cancer. Through out this difficult time doctor guided us and helped us all along the way. With out a doubt I would highly recommend Dr Maruthesh Gowda for colon cancer or rectal cancer treatment and surgery.

He said having Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is up to me in current condition. He gave honest opinion. If have gallbladder surgery then I will choose Dr Maruthehs Gowda.
