
Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) is a government cancer hospital on the Medical College Campus, Kumarapuram Road, Chalakkuzhi, Thiruvananthapuram 695001, Kerala, near Trivandrum Medical College. Established in 1981, it is one of six dedicated cancer centres under the National Cancer Control Programme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is recognised as a State Cancer Institute by the Government of India, and is accredited by NABH.Its work spans cancer diagnosis, treatment, palliative care and rehabilitation, with surgical, radiation, medical and paediatric oncology, gynaecologic oncology, head and neck surgery, breast surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and radiology, haematology and haematopathology, nuclear medicine, pathology and cytopathology, clinical microbiology, bacteriology, mycology and parasitology, molecular biology, blood banking and transfusion medicine, anaesthesiology and surgical critical care, dentistry and epidemiology. Imaging includes 1.5T and 3T MRI and 3D/4D ultrasonography. RCC runs a second campus at Pulayanarkotta and outreach centres at Palakkad, Ernakulam and Kollam, and maintains the hospital-based and population-based cancer registries for south Kerala, covering Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam.It is open 24 hours, all seven days.
