Ms. Shamira Pujani is a Counselling Psychologist, a Nutritionist and a Yoga Teacher in Viman Nagar, Pune and has an experience of more than 15 years in this field. She has a Masters in Counselling Psychology (Bangalore University), a Health Coach Certification (IIN, U.S) and Ayurveda and a Yoga Teacher Certification. Keeping a holistic approach to therapy she helps her clients work on all aspects of life; Mental Health, Physical Fitness and Nutrition. She handholds them to make the required lifestyle changes, build physical and mental health and emotional strength. Shamira has done extensive work with survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse, helping them heal and work through the long term consequences of the trauma. She works with schools to teach personal safety and sexuality education to children. She trains Teachers, parents and counsellors to recognise signs of possible abuse in children and sensitise them to handle such cases. A lot of her work revolves around working with teenagers, adolescents and young adults struggling with anxiety, stress motivation levels etc. She interacts with them in groups in schools and colleges and also one-on-one individually. Over thinking, anxiety, depression, lack of focus, inability to pay attention, strained relationships, emotional outbursts have unfortunately become like common cold and cough that we all suffer from every now and then! Therapy sessions with her are not the typical psychotherapy sessions that involve talking and listening. She coaches her clients to over come these conditions and build not just mental health but all aspects of life. Yoga and Ayurveda is an integral part of her sessions. Various techniques and others methodologies are taught to address their concerns. Natural herbs, home remedies and common ayurvedic combinations are also shared. The sessions were precise and helpful. The most important factor missing in today's world is to find someone with a good ear. My experience with Ms Shamira was more like walking on a self-discovery path, and for that, she not only heard my story as a non-judgmental stranger but gave me enough space to allow myself to answer my queries. And whenever I felt stuck, she has always been a guiding light. Among all of the exercises she recommended, many of them have been such a great help to me and I still try my best to practice them regularly.
