Dr. Aayush Gupta

Dr. Aayush Gupta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, and a Consultant at Aditya Birla Hospital,Pune, India. He earned his M.B.B.S. degree from Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun in 2011 and topped his batch during M.D. degree examination (2015) of Dr. D.Y. Patil University, Pune. Dr. Gupta is a keen clinician, voracious reader, original thinker with a penchant for research and has already authored more than 30 publications. He has also helped set up a centre of excellence on vitiligo in his department. This centre cultures melanocytes, keratinocytes and fibroblasts in various proportions, growing them on scaffolds and then transfers the cultured autologous cells to replenish cells in diseased states like vitiligo, burns, non healing ulcers etc.His current research interests include understanding the relationship between keratinocytes and melanocytes in vitiligo, trying to find new ways to eliminate leprosy from India and using Next Generation Sequencing technologies to unravel the molecular mechanisms behind various genodermatoses. He is one of the only clinicians in India who is ensuring that genetic skin diseases do not pass on to from one generation to the other using a combination of exome sequencing, prenatal testing and PCR validation.He also has extensive experience in various procedures like autologous fat grafting, lasers, peels. PRP. acne and vitiligo surgery and believes in treating patients holistically.
