I was having constant chest pain after my bypass surgery for 4 months, not responding to medicine. All investigation like Sonigra phy, CT scan, x- ray, Blood test were normal. Cardiac surgeon advised surgery but not sure about result . Recommended pain clinic consultation. Then diagnosed as nerve problem Dr Yashwant Nankar treated by nerve Block, pain disappeared . Now I am having no pain from last 1 month after treatment and very happy.
Dr. Yashwant Nankar replied
Persistent pain after Surgery in Thoracic region like open heart surgery is a problem. This pain may results from Nerve damage or entrapment in scar tissue. This pain is electric shock like pain , can be spontaneous or can be triggered by touch in that area. This pain usually did not respond to routin pain killers. Interventional treatment in the form of image guided intercostal nerve block gives excellent and long term Relief to these patients and pain killers can be totally stopped.
